Ty Hackett (Columbus Short) works at a security cos that provides armored vehicles. His brother, Jimmy is at school. Ty is a war hero from Iraq. Mike Cochrane (Matt Dillon) & Baines (Laurence Fishburne) are his colleagues. Chief Ashcroft (Fred Ward) is in charge of personnel. Mike & Baines stage a mock robbery of their van on Ty's first assignment & sort of "induct" him into the job. That night, over drinks Mike tells Ty about a $4 MM heist in which the suspects were the security guys, but nothing could be proved.Ty's house is about to be repossessed due to mortgage & childcare is pushing hard to take custody of Jimmy. Mike tells Ty about a plan to rob $ 42 million that they are going to be carrying next day. Ty doesn't agree at first but shows up next day after a visit by the childcare agency the same night. Ty doesn't want any blood on his hands. 2 trucks go the bank: one team is Mike, Baines and Ty, and the other truck has Quinn (Jean Reno), Palmer (Amaury Nolasco), and Dobbs (Skeet Ulrich). They check in & the next check in is in 51 minutes.The gang takes the truck to an abandoned mill & start unloading when they spot a bum spying on them. Baines kills him when Ty was trying to save him. Ty locks himself in one of the trucks & sounds off the siren, which Mike stops by cutting the battery. But Sheriff Eckehart hears a faint siren and goes to investigate.The gang decides to kill Ty & tell everyone that he died a hero trying to save their lives. They start working on removing the hinges. Dobbs doesn't agree with the plan & secretly tries to help Ty when Mike catches him. Palmer stabs him dead.Eckehart gets to the site & meets Mike & is convinced all is OK when Ty sounds the alarm again using pocket batteries. Baines shoots Eckehart in stomach & they drag him inside. While they are arguing, Ty sneaks out, sets the money on fire, distracts the gang & picks Eckehart & takes him inside the truck.Quinn takes off to kidnap Jimmy. Ty covers the windows with bills & then sneaks out from the bottom panel & goes to the roof to try and contact police. Palmer follows him. But instead of killing Ty, Palmer jumps off the roof as he can't live with the guilt of murdering Dobbs.Quinn returns with Jimmy, who he has kidnapped. Mike threatens to shoot Jimmy in the head, and so Ty opens the truck doors. They grab Ty and beat him a bit. As Quinn and Baines open the box with all the money in Ty's truck, it explodes as he set a trap with flares inside. There is a huge explosion, and the two men are flung from the truck. Mike is, too, but since he wasn't in the truck, he lives. Ty makes Jimmy hide, and then runs. He heads for the sheriff's car, and while trying to start it, is rammed by Mike driving the other armored truck. Ty escapes and starts running on foot with Mike chasing him in the truck. Ty sees a drop in the road and jumps down, and Mike drives the truck right down into the hole, crashing the truck. Ty walks over, and we see Mike, thrown from the truck take a few breaths, then die. Ty walks away.At the hospital, Ty sees the sheriff through his window, and it appears that he will be OK. Ashcroft walks out, and tells Ty that Sheriff Eckehart explained all that Ty did to save him, and he mentions there might even be a reward.
