While playing piano in a bar, pianist Charlie Koller is approached by his crook brother Chico Saroyan, who has been chased by two gangsters. Charlie helps him escape, but he upsets the two criminals, and they watch Charlie and waitress Léna, who is in love with him. Shy Charlie tells his past to Léna, when he was the former famous pianist Edouard Saroyan, and he quit his successful career after his waitress wife Thérèse Saroyan's suicide. When his brother Fido Saroyan, whom he raised, is kidnapped by the gangsters, Charlie must take an attitude with tragic consequences.—Claudio Carvalho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
