After serving five years of a life sentence for a murder that happened in the process of a $100,000 robbery, Rocky Mulloy is released from prison after somebody comes forward with an alibi, a decommissioned Marine with a wooden leg named Delong, who, with some fellow unknown Marines, was with Rocky at the time of the robbery - something that Rocky said at his trial - but has just returned to Los Angeles being gone all this time and having just learned of what happened to the guy with who they had drinks with that evening. Despite Rocky being set free, LAPD Lieutenant Gus Cobb, in charge of the case against Rocky and his fellow co-convicted in the robbery itself, Rocky's best friend Danny Morgan, who has six months left to serve before he is eligible for parole, believes the pair is still connected to the robbery in some form, the money which was never recovered. What Rocky knows is that Delong was not among the men he was with that night, Delong, truly an ex-Marine, who admits to him as much, but only came forward for "his share" of what he feels he is owed of the robbery moneys in payment for the alibi, the money which he believes Rocky has. The deal that alcoholic Delong strikes is that he will stick to Rocky like glue until he gets the money, which means the two living together. Where Rocky chooses to live is the rundown trailer park where Danny's wife, Nancy Morgan, lives, she who used to be his girl until they had a falling out, Rocky who ended up introducing Nancy to Danny. Now, a certain attraction reemerges between the former lovers, Rocky cognizant not to act on those feelings with Danny still being his best friend soon to be released. Rocky is certain that bar owner Louis Castro, the bar just a front for his criminal activities, was behind the robbery as he tried to recruit Rocky for the job. A game of cat and mouse ensues between Rocky and Castro as Rocky tries not only to discover what happened to the money, but who Castro was able to recruit for the job, one of his associates who pulled the trigger that led to Rocky's life sentence incarceration.—Huggo
